Claremont Hall - 34 Claremont St. - This loft conversion of a former church hall was completed in 1995 by Bob Mitchell and partners. Claremont Hall contains only 13 units and is located west of Bathurst St., just north of Queen St. All suites face south and have an outdoor pato or deck. Ceiling heights range from 8' to 14' and all units have fireplaces. Parking is located underground and each unit has access to at least one space. The heating system is forced-air gas with optional central air-conditioning. Suites range is size from 600-1,200 sq. ft., though condo fees are relatively low (utilties extra). The maintenance fees on all loft units used to be equal, but now have been adjusted to the size of the individual unit, which is common in most developments. With interesting spaces and such close proximity to trendy Queen St. West, the lofts at 34 Claremont St. have proven to quite popular. The Lofts on Sorauren - 347 Sorauren Ave - Located in North Parkdale in a pleasant residential neighborhood, 347 Sorauren was initially a ball bearing factory. It is actually a composite of the initial mill style warehouse with two new additions. The first level generally features 15 foot ceilings, massive timber columns and beams. The Peanut Factory - 306 Sackville Ave - The Peanut Factory is so named because it was at one time a peanut warehouse and processing plant located in the heart of Cabbagetown. It was redeveloped in 1988 by Trivest. It is now 9 loft-style condominium townhomes. Most suites have two bedrooms, although one is a one-bedroom with den. 289 Sumach - 289 Sumach St. - This loft development is located just north of Gerrard St. and west of Parliament St., in the south part of Cabbagetown. Ten suites are housed in this former Ontario Medical College for Women. Completed in 1984, most of the original 1890 facade has been maintained. Ceilings are very high (up to 15 feet). Layouts range from single-storey to multistorey lofts and sizes range from an 800 sq. ft. one-bedroom to 2000 sq. ft. for multibedroom suites.
